Give him the taser. THE TASER!!
I definitely haven't been keeping up with the crown prince of all possible indictments. I consider the interposition of my commentary to be a fateful jinx on the possibility of high-level charges, much like a Red River Shootout post expressing confidence in the Longhorns will cause Vince Young to spontaneously combust in the first quarter.
Thankfully, you can find all the details you want and more at Firedoglake (just read the last 5-6 posts; Jane will be making an appearance on MSNBC tomorrow to discuss her detailed findings and opinions about the case), Billmon, Whatever Already, Talking Points Memo, Think Progress, Talk Left, The Mahablog, The Next Hurrah, and many others. Feel free to add your own links or takes in the comments. A schadenfreude-laden "Oh please God let this happen" is considered a take for purposes of this post.
The above story, plus these abyssmal poll ratings (37% Presidential approval, 69% country's on the right track, 32% approval on Iraq and the economy), makes the Administration wish it still had its color-coded terror threat system. Oh well, they'll have to go with the next best thing. Look for the phrase "doubtful credibility."
Is that picture for real?
Posted by: Hysterical Woman at October 7, 2005 07:59 AMbig ups to Chuck Schumer for calling for the investigation in the first place.
Posted by: paperpusher at October 7, 2005 08:01 AMSorry, it's still only wishful thinking at this point, H.W. ALthough I think the Photo-shop would be improved if Tiny Lister (Deebo from Friday) played the cop on the right.
Posted by: norbizness at October 7, 2005 08:08 AMRove doing the perp walk. Priceless.
Posted by: Clancy at October 7, 2005 09:55 AM"Please, God-- I know it's a Photoshop, but if I pray really, really hard and not touch myself today -- well, any more times today -- could you please, please, please make it real? I'll start going to church and stop making 'sweet 50 and never been laid' jokes about the nuns. Honest!"
Posted by: Sandman at October 7, 2005 12:47 PMI've been a Plame scandal junkie since day one. It's not as consistently good as the OJ trial, but definately makes up for that with the jolting and juicy tidbits.
I don't have any predictions on who's gonna fall here, although that poem Libby wrote to Miller is about as clear cut a case of witness tampering as I've ever seen. I wouldn't be surprised if Fitz asks her wtf it means next week.
