Orange Jumpsuits: Always a Great Fall Fashion

Trivia question: one of the above people was just indicted by a Travis County (Austin, Texas) grand jury on criminal conspiracy charges. Which one was it?

According to the Austin-Unamerican-Statesperson, the charge is a state jail felony punishable by up to two years incarceration and stems from his 2002 work in allegedly funneling corporate money through the "Texans for a Republican Majority" PAC to legislative races... then turning around and using the bought-off legislators to ram redistricting down our collective throats. Strangely, most Texans seemed to be more concerned about school finance and the disintegration of the state safety net. But, as previously noted, poor Latino kids without health insurance have been notoriously slow in organizing their own political action committee.

And, as of now, he's stepped down and David Dreier from California (an odious douchebag himself, but nowhere near DeLay's concentrated evil) is taking over as Majority Leader. I guess we should get ready for the media circus and the elevation of Ronnie Earle*, Travis County District Attorney, to right-thinking America's Public Enemy #1. Plus, Earle is easier to pronounce than Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

UPDATE: I guess the highest-ranking Republican in the Senate was feeling a little left out of the corruption circus...

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist faces a near-term ordeal unwelcome to anyone, particularly an ambitious politician: an official probe into his personal financial dealings by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The SEC authorized a formal order of investigation of Frist's sale in June of HCA Inc. shares

*I am not personally a fan of Ronnie Earle's work, but choosing sides in this particular courthouse battle is a no-brainer. More details and links later on...

My day is made!

"Co'sin Larry! Now we do the dance of joy!"

I actually bumped into the guy who played Larry Appleton pushing his kid around in a stroller at the Natural History Museum in Manhattan. I only JUST restrained myself from doing the dance of joy for him.

I hate having to root, root, root for the state of Texas against any poor indicted bastard, but in this case, things evened out.

I am no fan of D.A.Earl, so I am somewhat conflicted, but it is as much of adult life, a wager on the lesser evil.

OT, Norbizness, but I just had to show you the Ultimate Warrior's latest squabble with WWE.

My favorite part is the way he capitalizes the letter H when he refers to himself with "He" or "His".

To Aaron; You know, we're all pathetic enough pop-culture addicted losers around here that you could've just said Mark Linn-Baker and we all would've known who you were talking about...

As far DeLay, the only thing disappointing about that news is that the maximum punishment doesn't involve wringing his head out to get the precious precious oil.

Hmmm, I feel it too... Did we sic more naked dogs on sleep-deprived prisoners? Maybe Texas executed another severely mentally retarded convict?

Or maybe Fitzgerald is going to bring a sledgehammer down on this whole GOP putsch.

I meant sic "more dogs on naked, sleep-deprived prisoners"... the dogs are actually wearing the CUTEST little sweaters.
