Geriatric Riot-- I Wanna Riot // Geriatric Riot -- A Riot of My Own

Odetta's got a posse!

I was not fully aware that the American Association of Retired People has lost their collective marbles [yes, this smear ad against them actually exists] and decided to promote gay marriage, thereby abandoning (1) any pretense of supporting the troops or (2) their original mission, which was to ostensibly provide financial and health-related security for America's growing pool of retitrees. I think this is because they don't wholeheartedly support the President's... er... what is it called now? Some plan dealing with Social Security.

The Left welcomes you, AARP! You've got the financing, the numbers, and the necessary loud screeching to make elected officials bend to your estimable will. I've got... well, the delusions of grandeur and the made-up title. Together we can go great things. You will feel right at home with other enemies to fluffy kittens, all-white baseball leagues, and other ideas that make up the very fabric of America (listed here and here).

On a semi-serious note, this ought to be fun. The crazies may want to start a little bit of intergenerational warfare; unfortunately, they're armed with a Super Soaker against several ICBMs with multiple nuclear warheads. Good luck with that shit, Rove!

UPDATE: The alternate Photoshops have already started popping up, here and here, with my personal contribution in the extended entry...

Isn't it the sloppiest, shrillest, most amateurish thing ever? I love you, Photoshop!

Fun could be had with this:
USA Next -- Voice Your Opinion.

From the astroturf Art Linkletter-approved GOP front group, a long series of true testamonials from real, not made-up old people. Why is AARP not for Frank Locker of Macedon, NY? Cause of Gays and, apparently, the Cultural Revolution:
"They openly support and push the gay agenda and they endorsed John Kerry, a politician who is to the left of Mao (unacceptable to a VietNam era veteran, as I am).

I think some Simpsons producer once said that Grampa was always portrayed in the most awful, stereotyped way imagainable because they've always been bitter that no one over 55 gets the show. The blogosphere may be in a similar situation.

i don't know - my dad (72, ex-air force) watched the Simpsons for the first time at our house this thanksgiving and he was snorting. i remember my grandmother seeing steve martin the first time and exclaiming, "he's doing milton berle!" the cog dissonance is gonna get critical if this shit spreads. the culture war will really be on.

Haha, you had to use photoshop for that? Paint works just as well!

Anyway, I think what the ad campaign is trying to say is that if you don't support the president 100% of the time, then you hate freedom (and like a bit of the ol' winky-dink in the rump). My question is, what if gay soldiers want to marry? If we don't let them, do we hate freedom? If we do let them, do we hate America?
