For those of you keeping track, if the Bush Administration case for the Iraq War were the tactics being used on behalf of a typical Law and Order defendant:
This would be about the time that the defense lawyer stands up at the 45-minute mark of the show and loudly announces that he wishes to change his client's plea to not guilty by reason of insanity, and proceeds to put on some expert to prattle on about some psychiatric-disorder-of-the-week.
The Assistant District Attorney usually responds to the expert testimony with complete incredulity, asking questions like "Did you even examine the patient?" or "That means any one of us could kill somebody and get away with it, couldn't we?"
Then the jury usually comes back with some irrational not guilty verdict, and the show ends with crusty old District Attorney Schiff, grabbing his trenchcoat as he heads for the elevator and saying something pithy about human nature.
